I have to say that this card reader is not what i was expecting the quality of the slots is poor and as i found out the pins are easily bent trying to position the card to read, particularly the Memory stick Pro. this is nowHama USB 2.0 Card Reader - 35 In 1 damaged and wont work

I bought this card reader for my husband. He already has a card reader but recently bought a HD Camcorder that took SD / SDHC cards and his card reader doesn't support the SDHC card. My husbands computer has Windows XP installed, and this Hama card reader says it works with Windows 2000 / ME / XP / Vista, etc., and supports the SD / SDHC cards.
However when my husband connected it to his computer it said "New Hardware Found", then the computer crashed. He disconnected the card reader and re-booted the PC and got a message saying it had recovered from a serious error caused by new hardware / software. He couldn't see how just connecting the card reader had caused it to crash, so he connected it again, and again it said, "New Hardware Found" and then crashed again. I was going to return the card reader, but I asked my son to try it with his laptop, which has Vista installed, and it installed / works fine on his laptop.

This little card reader is very simple and works fine, just plug it in and it does what it's supposed to. I've used it for about a month so far without any problems. It auto installed in seconds (without any additional drivers) on my laptop (Windows XP) and on my desktop (Windows Vista). It's read / writes to all the cards I've inserted and seems quite fast although I haven't measured any read/write speeds. Excellent value.
