I bought this 2GB memory card for my Kodak M1073 and ir works brilliantly. It's a 10.2 megapixel camera and this memory card will hold around 45 minutes worth of footage or 800 pictures. Really pleased with it and it was a bargain considering it's the same price as a 1GB card from Argos.

A circular frame with a crossbar to mount most mini DV cameras, the Fig Rig becomes part of the body to produce smooth, steady traveling shots. It is this very fact which is the secret to the Fig Rig. As the operator walks, his/her muscles and tendons absorb all the shocks, transferring only fluid movements to the camera. As there are no straps or harnesses attached to the Fig Rig, quick and wide movements can be made within the same shot ? from ground-level to overhead, in one smooth movement. The camera, accessories and operator become one, allowing you to film scenes quickly and unobtrusively. With the Fig Rig your creativity is virtually limitless

"Good rig for small cams" 2009-09-11
By M. Reed
I use this with my Xacti HD2000 and it works well. It's steadier than one-hand handheld and allows you to do whip-pans and such which are difficult to do with steadicam. The rig itself is great to mount a high quality mic several inches away from the cam. With an additional clamp you can also fix a tripod quick-release to the figrig so it's not needed to unmount all your gubbins from the rig. If you're fashion conscious and worried about looking cool whilst shooting and dream about the glamour of the movie biz then this rig is not for you. You will look a dork using this "steering wheel" but if you can get over yourself it's a useful tool.

With the same Neotec opening and closing mechanism as the 458B tripod, the 685B monopod is designed for support without sacrifice. It couldn't be easier or faster to set up - just pull the monopod leg downwards to open and automatically lock it in any position, with no screws, knobs or levers to tighten or loosen. Then to fold it back up again, pull the mechanism release trigger and push the leg closed. Its "upside down\ construction also stops the worst of the mud you're standing in from ending up inside the monopod."

"The quickest to deploy Monopod you can buy." 2010-05-22
By M. Witherington (Hampshire)
I have this monopod with a 484R2 ball head attached. I owned a monopod before the 685B Neotec and found that I tended to leave it at home, the main reason is that if I am going to the trouble of unlocking, extending and relocking, attaching the camera, adjusting the height, etc, I may as well use a tripod (or hand hold if light permits). The reason to use a monopod, in my opinion, is for quick deployment and greater stability. All monopods give greater stability but most are not quick to deploy.

When deploying the 685B you snap the camera to the head (the 484RC2 has a quick release system), stand on the small foot plate at the bottom of the monopod and pull the top up to the height required. Adjusting the height is easy and takes seconds. With one hand, push the button lock with your small finger and grip the release system, adjust the height and un-grip the release system to lock. I am finding that I use this monopod all the time and for general shooting I tend to leave my tripod at home (or in the car).

The 685B is lightweight but sturdy, extends to 1.7m without head and has a spring loaded 3/8 and ¼ inch tripod bush (no loosing the converter here). There is a wheel on the hand grip to help you screw your tripod head to the monopod. There is a hand strap included and foam padding arounf the body of the monopod.

I am not convinced about the rubber foot on this monopod but it is functional; I think a spike would have been better.

Note: This monopod does not come with a head. I would recommend the 484RC2 ball head since it works well, is lightweight and has quick release facility.

All in all this monopod is an unbelievable piece of design and it's so quick to use that it's a pleasure to use.

 "Love It!" 2010-04-03
By Eric H (Bolton Lancashire)
Super piece of kit, not as light as some of the other reviews on here would have you believe but worth carrying round just because it's so easy to use.

I thoroughly recommend it, solid as a rock and well built, a little bit expensive but you get your money's worth.

 "Solid, well made but..." 2010-02-01
By Mr. S. Crook (North of the M25)
I got this because I didn't want to lug a full tripod around with me. It's well made, very solid, and there's obviously a lot of thought gone into the construction. It's expensive, but I think you get your moneys worth.

There's a price you have to pay for that solidity, it's big and, for a monopod, pretty heavy. I have to say that after a few weeks using it I really can't fault it for the job that it does. Combined with the Manfrotto mini ball head it makes a good platform for getting that bit extra stability for a lens, extending and collapsing it really is a one handed operation, with no fiddling around with clips or twist locks.

If you want a monopod to take with you on a photo shoot, it's fine. However, if you're looking for a monpod to take with you on a hike, I think it's both too big (the minimum size is 76cm) and too heavy to lug around for 10Km and, unless you have a backpack designed to hold a monopod/tripod you'll have one hand permanently occupied carrying it.

There are smaller, lighter (and cheaper) monopods around, but you'll sacrifice that slick extending mechanism, but at least they're suitable for a hike.

5 Stars because, judged on it's own terms it succeeds admirably.

No messing about with latches or twist locks - simply grip and adjust the height - then release and it stays.

So simple - the best purchase I've made for some time in the accesorise department.

 "Alarming" 2010-07-22
By Terry Broome (Wakefield, W Yorks)
This fan controller and multi card reader at first appears to be incredible, but installation is a pain and the device reset itself every time I shut the computer down.

Installation woes: I didn't think I'd used any force, but I managed to remove the thread on one of the fixing screws, so the device jammed in the case. I sweated for two days to get the thing out again - which I needed to do because, once in, I couldn't connect the cables to the Allinone's ports through the back of the case and the 5 1/2" drive bay. To connect everything up uses a mass of cables (one for each front-end connection). Make sure your mobo has enough corresponding ports on it. The audio ports are simply pass-through connections. The device comes with a pc case backplate, with a large hole in it. The audio cables pass from the back of the Allinone (inside the case), through this backplate to the audio ports on the back of the pc. So you don't get any extra audio ports. Having audio cables snaking across the mobo and hooking into the ports on the back of the pc is a very messy solution for easier audio port access.

There is no proper manual, so setting up the fan alarm is left to the user's intuition. It is not a very intuitive device (the brief guide you do get does not appear to work the device as described). The alarm is supposed to go off when the temperature inside the case reaches a certain level or the fan stops working. You can connect two fans to the case and stick two internal sensors near to the graphics card and CPU (the thermal tape supplied is woefully inadequate and I couldn't find how to get replacements from either Amazon or Akasa). You should be able to set the temperature alarms and the fan speeds. I couldn't get this to work half the time (with the alarm going off incessantly), or it would work, but the device wouldn't remember the setting, so on the next boot, the alarm went off again and I spent another 20 minutes trying to stop it.

I never got around to testing the card readers. After going through the above procedure a dozen times, I pulled the thing out and binned it. I bought an internal drive caddy to replace it (enabling the user to insert spare hard drives from the front of the pc, much like inserting floppies).

Recommendations: Check you have enough corresponding ports on your mobo to connect all the card readers included in the device. Have super clean hands when using the thermal tape on the sensors - you'll only get a couple of shots to fix them before the adhesive fails. Connect the cables to the device before slotting it into a spare bay (it's a very tight fit). Make sure you don't need the audio ports on the back of your pc. Don't buy if the constant alarm resets unnerve you.

Finally, buying an external multi-card reader, whilst it takes a USB port, is a much more elegant solution. If you want a fan controller, get a dedicated one.

 "Panasonic SD Card" 2010-05-02
By S. J. Fisher (Devon)
After my cine camera packed up, I realised that I could use my Panasonic FZ18 camera for cine as well as still photography. Having tried another makers card to experiment with filming, that gave mediocre results, I decided to buy a Panasonic card. The resulting film I took at a wedding anniversary was as good as my dedicated cine camera had been. Consequently I have saved the expense of buying another cine camera.

 "ExpressCard Compact Flash Reader" 2010-08-05
By Gavin R. Bishop (England)
At last an Expresscard Compact Flash reader that works!

This device loads and unloads from my MaBook Pro without causing it to crash.

This is due to the architecture of this card being a USB device (as against IDE) so is natively hot swappable.

A great purchase don't waste your money on lesser items - it's taken me three goes to get one that works.

 "Too slow." 2009-10-12
By Frank Hollis
Now that CF cards capable of speeds up to 90 MB/s are available, I was hoping that we'd get card readers that could keep up with them. USB2 and Firewire 400 are too slow and I don't have FW800 on my laptop. So I decided to try an ExpressCard solution. There's no reason why that shouldn't be fast enough. So I was hugely disappointed when I found that this thing was almost half the speed of my Lexar UDMA USB reader (30 MB/s). A paltry 18 MB/s was its top speed. During installation Windows installs USB drivers for it - so it's not surprising it's slow. So buy this if you want a compact solution - but only if you have loads of time to wait for it.

"Not as convenient as expected." 2009-08-30
By S. Hastings (UK)
I purchased this card reader as an alternative to carrying a USB card reader + lead etc when working on location as a photographer, hoping that it would make the whole download process more tidy: i.e. card reader stays in laptop slot so acts effectively as a built in card reader. Unfortunately the card reader itself requires some considerable coaxing to make a connection with the computer and is unstable to the point of having to make sure you don't breathe too hard in its vicinity for fear of loosing its connection. I've tried this reader in three separate machines all with the same result. I'd also hoped that maybe with use the problem would subside, however this hasn't been the case after several weeks use. In short a nice idea and potentially much more convenient than a separate card reader and lead etc, but in practice, so far at least, less than satisfactory.

Prior to purchasing this item, I'd only used USB2 CF card readers. I have to say, this reader does seem to be a bit faster than my previous USB2 one. No need for drivers in OSX - it was detected and mounted automatically.

Due to loss in transit I had to contact Expresspro for a replacement. They responded quickly in helping me sort it out. A second was dispatched and arrived within two days. The tripod is light and reasonably strong, (not for heavy loads like slr/500mm lens etc) but for my fuji s7000 its perfect. I am 6 foot tall and I can use it without bending to much. Good value for the price. Also it has a canvass shoulder bag.

At the heart of this marketing ruse is a deception. You can find the same card at the same price (that is the price including the P and P which is the real price) at your local Morrisons store. I saw one tonight. If enough people stop being fooled by these bogus prices, Amazon will be forced to revise this rip off. Hit them where it counts, in the pocket. That is the only language they understand. One would have thought that a company like Amazon that provides otherwise excellent service would be more upfront and honest about this cheap skate ruse to try and entice customers.
