I've tried this card reader with 8Gb UDMA compact flash cards and it works a treat on a MacBook Pro.
Maybe the other reviews needs to update his drivers?

This reader will only work with cards up to 1GB. This is from personal experience and also from Belkins UK website. If you only want to work with small cards it works fine but be aware of its limitation.
