It was exactly what I needed when I got it which is some time ago. It read the two types of cards I had.

XP recognises the device but when cards are inserted the light goes off and they don't show up in my computer.

Seems to work randomly, with xD and SD cards on XP+SP2 on 3 systems, 1 a clean install. Swapped cable out, same results. XP reports the hardware as a failed device on all the systems I have tried it on.
When plugged in, with no card inserted, the Power LED does not illuminate but the SD card inserted LED does, even though there are no cards inserted.
It's cheap, and I guess it is a lucky dip if you get one that works.

I was a bit dubious reading some of the reviews - I know, read them FIRST next time!!
Arrived next day and installed perfectly with windows XP on both my desk top and laptop.
No problems downloading photo's from SanDick ultra II and Kingstone SD.
No problems downloading photo's from a Fujifilm xd card.
No problems up-loading MP3 files to a kingstone sd card either.
For the price, i'm very impressed.

I have not tried all the cards in this or done extensive tests but it reads and writes Sandisk Extreme III and IV and that is straight out of the box without even installing any drivers. I am running XP with a USB 2 socket.
