"Ultra compact and light tripod" 2010-08-03
By RTT007 (the Netherlands)
Ultra compact and light tripod (less than 1 kg), only 36 cm folded (163cm fully extended) - one of the best ultra small tripods on the market.

Fits in every rucksack, very convenient to carry with all the time.

I am using it with a camcorder - for small static video clips using the camcorder remote control. It is enough sturdy for a DSLR camera with normal lens. Indeed a fluid head would be nice to have (may be purchased additionally) for advanced panorama videos, however such fluid head is normally designated for much heavier and longer tripods.

Overall, the tripod is a perfect companion for holidays and vacations.

Overall a good lightweight tripod for the price, although probably not completely stable in windy conditions and/or with heavier semi-pro DSLR's/lens attached!

 "The handle fell off" 2010-05-26
By C. R. Baughen (UK)
Tripod is light enough to take on a hike. The locking method for the legs is still a bit suspect - you think it's all locked and then a leg collapses. The handle for the head fell off on the 2nd hike - fortunately I heard it fall.

This is an excellent tripod for travelling with. Lightweight and short in it's packed state so that it will fit in a suitcase.

"Very lightweight, ideal for walkers" 2009-12-03
By D. J. Grenfell (Southampton, UK)
I bought this after reading a very favourable magazine review, and am very impressed!

This tripod is incredibly light! I have a monopod as well but this doesn't seem noticeably heavier, and it's therefore a welcome companion on a long walk.

Rather than using latches to extend the legs there is a novel twist-lock mechanism, which once you get the hang of is much quicker to use and allows it to pack down to only 36cm.

The three main legs have locks that allow them to be opened out to almost horizontal, and with the centre column being made of two sections that can be separated the whole tripod can be adjusted to stand about 16cm high. At the other end of the scale fully extended it's about 151cm high.

It's a lightweight tripod, so I wouldn't expect it to cope with an SLR and dustbin-sized lens on it, nor be vibration free when fully extended in a strong wind....but I have had some excellent results with 30 second exposures at mid heights (Canon 500D with the 18-200mm kit lens).

The pan and tilt head doesn't have a spirit level in it, but that's easily remedied cheaply and is quick to use with the twist-to-lock handle.

In short, for those of us who don't want to commit a couple of hundred pounds on a lightweight carbon fibre travel tripod (yet ;) this is a perfect alternative!
