I was fed up of unreliable external USB card readers so, knowing my mobo had on-board USB connectors and there was a spare bay in my tower, I went for this device. Installation was simple (obviously you need a bit of 'inside PC' know-how, such as where the USB 2.0 pinheaders are on your motherboard and whether you have a spare three and a half inch bay in your tower)and I soon had the reader up and running. It results in Windows Explorer reporting four new removable disks representing the various types of card reader. A red LED tells you the device is powered up - perhaps an unnecessary feature. You also get an extra USB 2.0 port on the front of your tower. I haven't been able to test all the card slots as I don't use all types of card but so far it does exactly what it says on the tin. Highly recommended.

This card reader is exceptional value for money and works well.
A word of warning, this card reader has a fixed flying lead with a 9 pin USB header type plug. Unfortunately my PC did not have a suitable insertion point. In the end I had to purchase a USB PCI board with a suitable insertion socket. Not a problem because I also needed the extra USB sockets that came with the PCI board.
As mentioned earlier the card reader is fine and does what it says on the box but beware that it does not have a standard USB plug.

Bought this for my PC which is running Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty Jackalope and it worked straight out the box. It's been solidly built and the cards are easy enough to insert and remove. My only complaints would be that it doesn't line up flush with the outside of my case and it has a light which is always on that seems a bit unnecessary. I'm probably just being fussy and for the price it definitely gets 5 stars!
