Excellent little tripod, perfect for doing video or taking photos with a small camera. Would benefit from a quick-release mechanism though.

This is nothing special so don't pay a lot. Only good for wee compacts. Nice and light though. If you are looking for something better go for a manfrotto but they are much more expensive,

I bought this product from the main retailer, digiMstore and instead received a star 75 tripod. After contacting the store they informed that this is the replacement for the 700 and practically the same. However Amazon are at present not advertising the 75 and the photo of the 700 is completely different from what I received in the box. Firstly there are not four height levels, there are just about three. Also the body is very plastic-y and not really sturdy at all. The prongs on the photo look as though they can be pushed into the ground but with what I received I think it would be extremely difficult.
This is not an awful tripod but you definitely get what you pay for, the panning is far too sticky for any camcorder device but ok for photos.
Other than that just be aware that you will receive this tripods 'replacement' and not that which is advertised.

Superb value for money, nice and stable, smooth tilt and swivel for panning, using with a D-SLR on top (Canon 400D + 17-85 Lens). For the money, it's a great investment, rewarding extra range of picture opportunities in low light conditions, great stitched landscapes etc. Folds and locks well, zipper carry case etc

Well, I usually use a Manfrotto tripod (190XPROB legs + MN-804RC2 head) but it is big, long and heavy, so I thought I would buy something smaller and lighter for the odd trip in the tube when taking pictures in C. London. I found this tripod and thought that for £10 I couldn't go wrong: even if it was useless for me, I would just order something else and give this one to a friend of mine that has got a nicer point & click camera).
When I unpacked this thing I thought it wouldn't do the job I had in store for it. My camera + lens combination is about 1.6Kg and I was afraid it wasn't going to take it, but after playing around with it at home it actually proved to be reasonably stable. I then took it out for a field trip and it performed everything that I asked of it. Obviously it cannot match the bigger and heavier tripod for solidity and vibration protection, but by keeping in mind the limitations of this £10 piece of kit I achieved fantastic results and couldn't be happier.
If you're an amateur that just want to be able to get some good shots in low light/night conditions you can't get anything better than this for this price (or even double the price, as I saw tripods of exactly the same quality going for £25 at the high-street stores).
