 "Works with everything!" 2010-06-05
By Mark (Sheffield, South Yorkshire United Kingdom)
Great price, and a brilliant wee unit. For me it's crucial that it works not only on my Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit install, but also on my Ubuntu Linux 10.04 64 bit too, as I'm a dual boot PC user. So far I have had no problems on either system. Windows 7 found the correct drivers for the item itself without having to use the supplied disc, and gave me respective drive numbers for each slot. On Ubuntu it just worked right out of the box with whatever I stuck into the slots without any other user intervention. Brilliant!

It installed easily onto my BioStar MCP6P M2+ motherboard into the available connection. The chap who said it doesn't sit quite flush on the tower is right, but it still looks great. It gets extra points for the lovely little note from the guy who runs the company! You'll see if you buy one.

All in all, a perfect buy for me.

"Doesnt work with windows 7 64 bit" 2010-05-22
By C&C fan (uk)
I bought a new PC with one of these readers and it is not recognised by windows 7 home premium 64 bit. Checked sweex site and windows 7 not listed as compatible OS :( Still trying to get it to work - maybe a driver will be released for it at some point

 "You decide !" 2010-01-27
By FishMan (Hampshire, UK)
I have given this 1 star as I am disappointed.

I never received the card reader, so I can't review the item, and as the item was lost by the royal mail, I can't tell you about the delivery.

However, APR Media were just about "OK" when it came to dealing with my problem. They wouldn't help me until my item had been "lost" for 15 business days, then after an exchange of half a dozen e-mails, they have refunded me in full (took 6 weeks in all).

I hope this helps someone, but as far as I am concerned, you pays your money, and hope for the best.

 "Fab Value" 2009-09-03
By R. Brown (Cleveland UK)
What Value, works like a dream - ok the compact flash port is a little shallow and the card does stick out a fair way, but unless you are an idiot who does not realise how to handle delicate memory cards & electronic equipment, there will be no problems with this - I have checked all ports and each card slides in very well (just make sure you have your card the right way up) and the extra USB port on the reader is a bonus too.

I should point out that this card reader does need the 9 pin (8used) USB connector on the motherboard, so check you have this facility before ordering, no instructions were in the box so if you don't know about the above, indeed you are a person who does not have any computer hardware knowledge then you may need help fitting the reader, but all in all it is extremely easy to fit as long as you know what you are doing. Other than that I have to give it a 5 star rating for value finish & fit all are excellent.

"Sturdy design, easy to install" 2009-08-31
By S. Pittock (UK)
This card reader is much like many other readers although there are faster ones available from other manufacturers. That said, this is more than capable for even heavy use.

I've not found any cards which this had an issue with and it allows you to boot from card media which can be very useful. The range of slots on here means that you won't often need a card adapter and it even has a T-Flash sized slot for the extra small cards used in many mobiles and smartphones.

The additional USB port this adds to your PC is also very useful, providing a handy place to plug in thumb drives and the like, as well of course as any USB device you would care to use. Finally, this unit has a 3 year warranty.
