In a USB port it projects by 5.5cm.
MS Memory cards that fit in my Vaio Laptop and PSP can now fit onto other computers by sticking them in the top of the device.
It means I only need carry an adaptor the size of a USB stick. The MS card docks to the reader writer and projects by 2.2cm - not a problem for desktops but could be on small laptops or netbooks.
It allows data to be read and written to MS cards and MS adaptors for Sony M2 cards which they use in their phones (K800i).
Very useful product for myself but it does not come with a case which I had to buy.
Feels durable and unlikely to fracture.

I have recently purchased a new camera. Whilst researching cameras I really wanted a Sony Cybershot. The only thing holding me back was Sony's less than helpful stance of not using standard SD cards. I decided to go for the Sony in the end and this USB device has really helped bridge the gap - allowing me to plug the Sony Memory Duo card directly in to my laptop. Buy one!

I used this a few times, then I put the flash card back in the camera and the camera doesn't recognise it any more, so I guess the reader has damaged it in some way. I'm now trying to find a new flash card which my rather old camera can read, as it doesn't like the big sizes currently available.
All in all, it's going to cost me a lot more than the reader !

I found the pins a little flimsy, unless you line the card up very very carefully, it is easy to bend the pins rendering it useless.

The device has done the job so far, but is very temporamental. There appears to be a problem with the pins being very pliable and I have had to realign them on several occasions. It's only a matter of time, I fear, before connection will be lost completely and irreversibly. Not the most robust of card readers.

I bought this item in December but it only lasted for a few downloads. The pins get bent when the card is inserted because the reader is made of plastic and isn't rigid enough to guarantee accepting the card into the slot without some distortion and misalignment. It worked okay for a few downloads but I actually noticed some marks on the card itself caused by the bent pins in the reader. Could have been a disaster.
