 "Great service" 2010-05-10
By I. Chen (London, UK)
Bought the Fuji camera a long while ago, have problem getting a microdrive as it was very expensive that time and the Smart media card only come with 128Mb, since then change it to 256Mb working great but need more space to get a better quality picture. Having a lot of difficulties trying to find an adapter that can used in the slot. Come aross this SD to CF(used to call Microdrive)adapter and it was great, searching so many site for it and here it is in Amazon. Thank you. So happy with the purchase and now increase my photo shot to 3000 with 2GB SD Card in 3M Pixel. Wow. The service from this company was great and fast delivery...

"Slower than the SD card" 2010-03-03
By M. EDWARDS (WINCHESTER, HANTS United Kingdom)
Having just bought a camera requiring CF cards and having loads of SD cards, I thought this would be a cheaper than replacing all my SD cards.

But, it certainly slows down storage of camera files to card. For normal use I am sure most users will not notice and be satisfied.

You simply plug the SD card into the adaptor and plug it in your camera. It is as easy as that.

"Blistering speed although big and expensive" 2010-06-01
By Francois Moscovici (London, Great Britain)
This is a true Firewire 800 product, not a 400 with an adapter. As a result it is VERY fast and is exactly what I wanted.

On the minus side, there is really no reason for this thing to cost the same as a half-terabyte hard drive or to be about 6 times the size of a CF card (by volume). Remeber that you are comparing it with £10 readers that accomodate 7 types of cards in roughly 1.5 times the size...

"Regularly fails to read and or be recognised by the Mac . . ." 2010-05-06
By A. Kyprianou (UK)
Only recognises the first card inserted. Subsequent cards fail to appear on desktop. Restart needed EVERY time between cards.

Grrr.

Sandisk here I come.

"lightning fast CF CARD READER" 2009-10-11
By M. A. Walder (notts uk)
This empties CF cards at a frightening speed, around 15 seconds per GB. If you need this sort of performance this device is for you.

Ultra short firewire 9/9 cable provided is useful.

It's not a big issue but the device is designed so that it interlocks with similar units. I can't imagine why I would need more than one of these so it would be neater without the protruding lugs.

"Fast and easy to use" 2009-09-23
By R. Jackson (London)
Being a Mac user the ability to have a firewire 800 peripheral is always a desired option.

Had hunted around for such a device and settled on the Lexar. Transfer rates are swift and it comes with an additional FW800 port for daisy chaining.

Plugged in and it was ready to play with. Def a product to get.

 "Not that quick" 2009-06-04
By Lf Curran (Bath UK)
Although it says fire wire 800 and it does use that connection, you would expect it somewhat quicker than the normal fire wire port, but alas no. I know that its all depending on the CF cards own speed etc, but even with the higher speed cards its not that noticeable in download speed. It is however well built and the cable is a lot thicker and robust as is the housing itself. The idea of daisy chaining is a good one and will be at some point trying that out. Overall its a good product but don't expect it to revolutionize your work flow also it's not cheap!

"It ate my flash card !" 2010-05-18
By trickypockets (UK)
I used this a few times, then I put the flash card back in the camera and the camera doesn't recognise it any more, so I guess the reader has damaged it in some way. I'm now trying to find a new flash card which my rather old camera can read, as it doesn't like the big sizes currently available.

All in all, it's going to cost me a lot more than the reader !

 "Does the Job, but" 2010-05-15
By R. Shore (UK)
I found the pins a little flimsy, unless you line the card up very very carefully, it is easy to bend the pins rendering it useless.

 "Not very robust" 2010-05-09
By A. Turner (Plymouth, UK)
The device has done the job so far, but is very temporamental. There appears to be a problem with the pins being very pliable and I have had to realign them on several occasions. It's only a matter of time, I fear, before connection will be lost completely and irreversibly. Not the most robust of card readers.

 "Fragile build quality" 2010-04-19
By Mr. JC Frank
I bought this item in December but it only lasted for a few downloads. The pins get bent when the card is inserted because the reader is made of plastic and isn't rigid enough to guarantee accepting the card into the slot without some distortion and misalignment. It worked okay for a few downloads but I actually noticed some marks on the card itself caused by the bent pins in the reader. Could have been a disaster.
