I purchased this about 2 years ago and stumbled across this link when I was looking to upgrade my gear. I think I need to commend the Manfrotto tripod for doing what 'the box reads'! It's lightweight, sleek (I carry it on my Lowepro slingshot bag by just passing one of the legs through a buckle) and value for money.
The downside to this (which is why the four stars) is that if you plan on using heavier lenses or telephoto on full zoom, the camera can sometimes flop forwards (... but not fall off!). However, I used it on my 450 d alongwith the kit lens with no problem.
Maybe I was jlucky and got a good piece, but have no problems with the clips, rubber grips or mount.
Overall impression: Not only is it a great low budget tripod that will serve you well.

If you are looking for a light, small tripod which goes to a decent working height for panoramas etc. when hiking , this is a good choice. A modern SLR like my Nikon D5000 with a 55-105mm zoom is too heavy for it according to the spec, but it just copes. Note the head is not interchangeable and the legs are quite 'twangy' being 4 stage telescopic and light in weight.
All that said, at the price it is available on Amazon for, it is excellent value.

I bought this Tripod for a couple of reasons:
1. Manfrotto has a good name in such products
2. size when collapsed is easy to carry around and yet fully extended is of good length.
I've had it almost a month and I am loving it.
I am using it for a Canon DSLR (450d), biggest lens I've used on it is the 55 - 250 mm. I have had no problems with the weight of the camera/lens, tripod worked fine, no concern whatsoever. You need to make sure that the trigger button is fully pressed and your camera will stay where you want to be. You can take landscape pictures, or you can rotate the head vertically for portrait.
Due to some other reviews that I've seen, I am careful with the leg extension clamps, but they look strong enough and unless I drop it on concrete or walk on it, I am confident they will all stay with me.
The head of the tripod is excellent, smooth movement and it locks in place by pressing down the top trigger lock button. The middle column of the tripod can be removed and this allows you to take pictures very close to the floor (you need to change to one of the 3 adjustment settings, easy and works fine). At the bottom of the centre column there is a little screw cap that you can unscrew and this becomes the screw driver for the removable top plate. Nice feature I thought.
I have a Lowepro 100 slingshot camera bag and I attach one leg of this tripod through the two back loops. It works fine for carrying it around, it is secure and I can access the camera without trouble.
Overall, this is a brilliant tripod for travelling, it can hold an entry size DSLR with long lens, if you handle it with some care it should serve you for many years. I am loving it and recommend it without reservations.

Would have been a fine product were it not for the poor quality of the leg clips. Like other reviewers, I have suffered multiple broken clips, meaning that the tripod is now only useful for taking photos up to one foot off the ground...
