This little gadget would be great if it did what it says on the box, but it doesn't. It certainly looks the part and is substantially built; however, the suction foot does not work very well. I tried the suction cup on a variety of surfaces: my desk (laminated `cherry wood-effect), a metal filing cabinet (ever so slight rough surface), plastic electrical trunking/conduit (quite smooth) and finally I stuck the little blighter to the glass window (quite new, clean and not visibly scratched). In all cases, expect for the glass window, the suction lasted for mere seconds; on the window the thing stuck for 2 hours (I timed it). I was so delighted that the suction cup/foot had held for so long that I pulled on it to see if it was stuck or merely clinging on for dear life - no, to my surprise, it was well and truly stuck. However, within a couple of minutes the whole thing came crashing onto my desk!
Having studied the suction cup/grip and mechanism controlling the `suck' action, it seems to me that the little `push down' catch, which applies the `pull force' necessary to suck the cup/foot away from the attachment surface and thus create a partial vacuum, does not pull the cup/foot far enough away from the attachment surface - in fact it barely applies any suction force at all. If the cup is pushed down onto a clean, smooth surface and then manually pulled to apply the suction force then the cup/foot holds quite well, so the problem is not the cup/foot per se rather the `catch'/pull mechanism.
Before you think I ought to be carted away in a straight jacket.... yes, I do have a life and do not spend my time testing gadgets to their limits, but I also like to get to the bottom of why potentially useful gadgets turn out to be totally useless and a waste of money.
Even though the specifications on the packaging of this gadget say that it can support up to 500 gram loads, I would not entrust even my cheapest little camera to this suction holder system.
In summary, another great idea that doesn't work as specified.

This was for dashboard mounting a v. small camera, but the suction cup will only work on perfectly flat glass or similar, Very smooth impervious material. I have a cheap toy robot that walks up windows better than this. As such I've found that there are stick-on dashboard plates available for Sat-Navs that might work. They could have included one here. The swivel mount itself is reasonable for small cameras.

The item is cheap enough that's why i gave it 2 stars, but it does not do the job it is disigned for, The ball scoket only allows slight angle movement. At the maxium ajustment points the camera points in the air and not infront of the vehicle. This items is disigned for flat straight windscreens and not angle ones.

Ideal for mounting my Flip video camera inside my car. Surprisingly strong suction, but unsure how long it will stay sucked on. Neat/cheap accessory which I'd recommend.

The suction cup is decent on a suitable platform, but the actual ball and socket head is incapable of supporting the weight that is claimed of it.
My camera weighs 470g, according to its manual.
This mount claims to be capable of carrying up to 500g.
Yet the mount will not keep the camera pointing in the right direction, unless that direction is nearly horizontal.
For a much smaller camera, this issue may not arise. But it should be noted that the 500g max that is claimed for this mount is a considerable exaggeration.

I was in the market for a new tripod as my old one was nowhere near high enough quality and creaked when I moved during filming.
This tripod had a host of favourable reviews so I gave it a go. I'll probably end up repeating everyone else's comments but here goes:
Very solid construction
smooth panning
I particularly like the under head fine tune adjustment to level the head once you've got it close to level by adjusting the legs (if you have a large camcorder this is best done before placing the camcorder as the camcorder can block the view down to the spirit level bubble).
Comes with a decent case and spare handle and quick release plate (very handy as this allows me to leave a plate permanently on each of the camcorders I use)
The quick release plate is a good size and can be changed to suit the two standard tripod bush sizes, there is one downside to a large plate , my JVC camcorder's battery slides down to come off and I have to remove the plate to remove the battery. Also the substantial plate size makes the camcorder look like a toy!
As has been mentioned before by others there are no instructions but assembly is fairly simple.
The bottom line is this tripod is perfect for my needs and combines quality and price in a way that will embarass rival tripods either side of it's price.

Having read the reviews of others who bought this item, I took the plunge. I have expected too much from tripods of ths sort of price in the past and always been disappointed. Not this time! Amongst the audio picked up by one video camera on my latest shoot was my comment of "I'm going to get a decent tripod if it kills me". This was just after I'd experienced the usual jerk and wobble at the start of panning. This unwanted movement also occurred when I touched any of the camera controls whilst rolling and was most noticeable at any zoom magnification. This tripod put a stop to all that. No more wobbly camera quick release shoes, no more play in the pan and tilt mechanism - instead a really beefy feeling piece of kit. Only one thing, although it packs away well into the supplied bag, this is quite a hefty lump so be prepared to get fit if you want to take it cross-country! My advice is get this for video work - its great value and does the job well. I bought this sproduct in conjunction with a dolly Tripod Dolly for Professional Camera/Video/Lighting Very High Quality and its works very well with this item.

I can be short and sweet. For the price this item is excellent. Being an amateur video film maker with semi pro equipment I needed a substantial rock steady tripod with fluid heads and that is what I now have. - the action on the head is very good.
The only down side, if any, is size and weight. This does need to be considered for portability I.E. you would not want to take it on a package holiday say but otherwise I shift everything around in my trusty estate car with ease

Wasn't sure about ordering this tripod unseen, but judging by the other reviews I placed an order. In the past I have bought low cost (<£60) tripods and they are always the same... light, easy to carry, but don't last long, and are rubbish for smooth panning. This tripod couldn't be more different. High quality materials, extremely solid consruction, smooth pan and tilt, good quality carry case. All in all, a great purchase. Perhaps a little heavy for lots of mobile work. Don't waste time and money with sub-£100 tripods... and don't blow £300 on one either. Get one of these. Got the dolly too, and the quality of that was better than expected also. NetGadgets supplied both units as described, well packaged and bang on time.

This tripod and head are exceptional value for money. The construction appears to be very durable. One reservation is/was that the joints on the head were excessively stiff on delivery. However WITH THE TOOLS supplied re-lubrication and 'easing' of the joints resulted in a smooth action. The weight of the tripod may be an issue if you intend to 'hump' it around. As with previous reviewers I have no hesitation in recommending this product.

After a lot of research, I come across this tripod and I have to say I got it only based on internet information, since I have never saw it live before. In comparison with others at the same price range, this one is much, much better than any other... It's quite robust, a bit heavy, but for me that's a plus and overall a very good buy!

Unbelievably good, i have a manfrotto, a gitzo and a silk and the Voyager beats them hands down, i have no idea why this tripod is so cheap, the build quality is superb, its weighty and stable and a pleasure to use, i used it for a magazine photoshoot today and can safely say from now on it goes with me everywhere!

I use the 494 RC2 with a Joby Gorillapod SLR Zoom and Canon EOS 450D and whilst the 494 appears a little over-engineered for the job, it works flawlessly. The Friction Control is a real boon, allowing simple and accurate positioning without impeding smooth movement, and the lock-lever is so easy to use with the ability to rotate the lever independently of the locking mechanism so that you can align the lever to your preference. The quality of the Quick Release has also blown me away, it's cast metal and very strong, and whilst the locking safety pin takes some getting used to, in no time securely mounting and dismounting the camera becomes second nature. The 494 is a quality piece of engineering and is in my opinion definitely worth the premium over the entry-level basic ball-heads available from the likes of HAMA.

It's small, relatively light and can be used on a range of tripods and monopods. I'm currently using it on either a Joby Gorillapod or a Monfrotto monopod. It had no problems supporting a Canon 400d and 100-400L.
The locking/friction mechanism works really well and the plate clips easily into place and locks firmly in position. A nice touch is that the lever that operates the ball lock can be repositioned (if access is awkward) by pulling it out and turning it.
On the face of it, it seems a little expensive, but the manufacturing quality probably justifies it.

Expensive, but well built - that's Manfrotto for you. Just wanted to mention that with the 1/4" to 3/8" adapter this fits very well with the Joby Gorillapod SLR Zoom (the joining surface diameters line up closely). I considered the Joby equivalent, but the key for me was to secure the legs, any which way, and then have full (lockable) flexibility on the joint nearest the camera. This fits the bill - one star off for not having a spirit level!

Head appears to be quite robust although a little small where it fits on my monopod.
This would not be the case I'm sure on a Manfrotto pod. It works well with good manouvrebility.
I'm pleased with it.

Great piece of kit that with out your tripod is just a shirt drier.
I by no means am a expert with this equipment, but the ball head has worked fantastically. There a two bolts or screws or what ever you call them to allow control over how the ball head moves. One is to simply to loosen up and lock up the ball head and the other is to control the friction on the ballhead allowing you manuver your equipment so that is moves with ease but does not just flop around and with a reasonable light lens you don't even have to worry about locking up every time. Also it has a indent on one of the sides so that your camera can be put in to any angle you desire. Want to make a portrait landscape panorama no problem.
My kit is very light the at heaviest it has been with a d60 and a 55-200mm and works perfectly fine. I have no doubt that the ball head could handle a lot more weight its very well made and the release plate is stuck always to the bottom of my camera ready to be popped on to the tripod.
It was a bit larger than I expected, but its still fairly small and I have no idea how large other ball heads normally are.
In summery great ball head that is very easy to use and light. Very good for enthusiast, but not for professionals who need prices accuracy and constant smooth movement.
